Wear Happy ~ The Cat’s Pajamas

Around 35 years ago, right after my husband and I bought our first house at the beach, we purchased a print of pink flamingos standing in water. It had a mirrored frame. I, in my ignorance, thought it was a unique deco piece, very kitsch, very cool, and hopefully very valuable. Not too long after we hung it in a prominent spot, I was watching the movie “The Right Stuff” and saw the exact piece hanging on the wall of a motel room scene. Kind of a bummer learning that…

An American Triumph

I had a very Hamiltonian weekend. First, I finished reading Ron Chernow’s biography of this extraordinary man. Then, I listened to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s score for the Broadway hit show. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it yet. At $900 a ticket I will have to pass. But it doesn’t matter. Being submerged in Alexander Hamilton’s story was an intellectual and creative privilege. Born without an “American” pedigree into an impoverished life, this brilliant immigrant rose to be, not only a Founding Father of our nation, but also the author of the country’s…

Natori Lingerie Births The Flora Bra

I guess by now anyone of you who has the slightest relationship with social media and the internet knows that April the giraffe gave birth to her baby this past weekend. Me, I have been on this story since end March, waiting (like the other 6 million followers) rather impatiently for the big event. After Shirley got me hooked on the live feed, I found myself checking the status of April’s progress more often than I would like to admit. Kudos to Animal Adventure Park in NY for building such…

In the scheme of things, it’s really the small luxuries in life that can alter perspective

This city is full of them; little treats that are singularly expensive but really worth the resulting lift. One doesn’t need a lot of anything to satisfy an appetite for pleasure. In NYC yesterday, while waiting for a latte at an edgy coffee shop on Madison Avenue, I started to contemplate why I was feeling upbeat about spending $4.50 on a cup of coffee. The answer is really simple: in the scheme of things, it’s really the small luxuries in life that can alter perspective. In fact, the current collection surfaces…

Anita’s Momentum no wire hi-impact sports bra pictured here delivering this September

Fit is critical. This is why I feel compelled to highlight, Anita’s Momentum no wire hi-impact sports bra pictured here in the power red version delivering this September. One of the original designs leading the way in innovation for this explosive category, Momentum (5529) is so inclusive; it covers sizes 30-46, A-H. How does this relate to Lingerie? It informs my wardrobe every day of the week. Sports bras, once the sole stake of sporting goods stores, are now a key inventory competitor in Intimate Apparel shops worldwide. What was…

Curvy Kate decided to push back : Scantilly’s #TheNewSexyCampaign

What amazed me were the advertising rules. We, a blog promoting elegance, good taste and female self-esteem garnered through the mystical and mechanical world of artful lingerie, were rejected multiple times for images deemed “not appropriate”.  Why? Because the sumptuous female body photographed in lingerie sensually and sometimes fiercely was thought to be offensive. When our images were rejected, we would pull back and post something else. Shame on us.I have a love-hate relationship with Facebook. When it launched during my son’s freshmen year in college, I found the concept…
